The Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Day featured 20+ hands on stations for the 8,000+ area school children that made the trip out to The Shrine on Airline, the home of the New Orleans BabyCakes AAA baseball team. The day was organized by Core Element, a educational program for K12 math and science teachers. Stations taught kids about electricity, Newtonian physics, rocket propulsion, the environment, engineering equipment, and of course the science of baseball. NASA, Dow, Shell and many other companies and organizations brought in volunteers to host the stations.

The Sandoval lab volunteered all around the venue, from checking-in participants to helping kids build their own popsicle stick catapults. Nancy Kim felt excited because "the kids all seemed very excited to be there and learn about STEM."
